The music of India was more or less uniform before the 13th century. Indian music started evolving when it was split into two different styles named Hindustani and Carnatic music, which happened after the rise of the Mughal Empire. The northern part of India was influenced by Persian and Arabic musicians and South Indian music remains untouched and developed without any outside influence
